Blog Critics book review - Dog & Butterfly [ 11/10/2009 ] br>Heart. If you're like me, the word evokes images of Ann and Nancy Wilson on stage, rocking guitars, and vocals in such classic songs as "Barracuda," "Love Alive," "Little Queen," "Alone," and on and on... For 30 years they've been entertaining us with their music, so we know they're talented.
Now I know they have other talents, such as writing and illustrating childrens' books!

Nancy Wilson is one of the two goddesses of the rock group Heart. So why, may you ask, is she creating an album of tunes specifically meant to help lull babies to sleep? Well, why not? She's a mom too!

Amazon Exclusives!! [ 10/9/2009 ]
We are pleased to announce an Amazon.com exclusive!! Baby Guitars, and Dog & Butterfly children's book.
click here to order (and get 10% off on Baby Guitars) http://www.amazon.com/Heart/e/B000APTHH2
Baby Guitars was composed by Nancy Wilson, a song at a time, after the birth of her twin sons. When the boys were still very small, she (along with Heart's guitarist, Craig Bartock, who also co-wrote the songs) recorded the album in her home recording studio. For years, the children went to sleep with the music playing in their bedroom. The ten beautiful melodic compositions, and stunning guitar work, that comprise Baby Guitars are reminiscent of Nancy's scoring work (Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky, Elizabethtown) and, in fact, two of the songs are on her Elizabethtown score soundtrack album, and one ("Sun on the Rug") was prominently featured in the Hillary Swank movie, "P.S. I Love You." Until now, the only people who have heard the entire collection are family friends (like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn) who were gifted with home-burned copies to commemorate the birth of their children. Now, for the first time, this set of original songs (which are as appealing to adults as to children) will be available to the public, exclusively through Amazon.com. - - - - This year, we are commemorating the 30th anniversary of "Dog & Butterfly," the double platinum Heart album (and title song), with the release of a children's book, written by Ann and Nancy Wilson, that brings to life the story of the little dog whose tries to make friends with a butterfly, and the determination and perseverance that helped him reach that goal. The book is beautifully illustrated by Ann and Nancy, who also recorded a brand new version of the song which will be available exclusively through Amazon.com with the purchase of the book.

Huntington's Disease (HD) is a devastating, hereditary,
degenerative brain disorder for which there is, at present, no
effective treatment or cure. HD slowly diminishes the affected
individual's ability to walk, think, talk and reason. Eventually, the
person with HD becomes totally dependent upon others for his or her
care. Huntington's Disease profoundly affects the lives of entire
families - emotionally, socially and economically.
The Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) currently
supports more than 40 scientists and 16 major HD laboratories in North
America and around the world. Twenty-one HDSA Centers of Excellence at
locations in major hospitals and university medical centers are
supported by HDSA across the continental United States. HDSA produces
and distributes, free of charge, publications and informational
materials on HD and maintains a toll-free information hotline to assist
physicians, patients and family members. Through 12 HDSA regions, 38
volunteer-based chapters and affiliates, 200+ support groups, we reach
out across the nation to offer HD patients and their families guidance,
encouragement, resource information and leadership opportunities at
HDSA events, meetings and seminars - truly a place to care, share
while we all work toward a cure. Learn more: www.hdsa.org

Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart have informed the McCain/Palin Campaign that Universal Music Publishing and Sony BMG have sent a cease-and-desist notice to not use one of Heart's classic songs "Barracuda," as the congratulatory theme for Sarah Palin.
The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission.
"We have asked the Republican campaign not to use our music.
We hope our wishes will be honored."
